InDesign on Intel not responding
I had bought an iMac with the Intel Duo Core Processor. The system is running osx 10.4.7. What happens is I'll open up InDesign CS2 and it'll start up. I'm not sure if this is normal, but it uses 90% cpu when it does and it continues to after it finishes. Now, at this point it'll let me open a document, but then I can't work on it because it'll stop working and then it'll say it's "not responding." If I just let it sit after it finishes loading, it will still go to "not responding."
I had opened it once before. I'm not sure if it had that problem as I had just opened it to see if the program installed successfully. I haven't had the chance to use it since. When I installed it, it was before I had upgraded the system, so it was at 10.4.4. Not sure if that makes a difference. I tried installing the update to InDesign, but that didn't make a difference.
Can anyone help me out?

Fonts are on the system, but there aren't that many.. I have LinoType Font Explorer X and SuitCase Fusion installed for any other fonts that'll be kept in another folder (I know I don't need both, just seeing which is better). RAM 2 GB SDRAM. It has a 2Ghz Intel Core Duo processor. Registration wasn't transfered. Anything else?

Re: InDesign on Intel not responding
Lisa,
I'm not sure I can help except to say that is certainly not normal. I have been running InDesign CS2 on my MacBook Pro without ever seeing this problem.
It can be slow to respond when switching from another app to InDesign, or when quitting InDesign. I attribute this to both InDesign and Rosetta needing to be activated, swapping their memory back into RAM, etc. Permanent hanging, though, is not something I have seen.
Did you install InDesign on this machine directly from the CDs, or did you use the Apple Migration Assistant to transfer from another? Also, are you running under a user account with administrative privileges? Did you install other CS2 apps; if so, do they work properly?

Re: InDesign on Intel not responding
I too run it on an Intel iMac and have no problems. I moved it all with the migration assistant from my old machine to the new. One thing I did thoug was deactivating on old machine before moving it and re-activating it on new machine when done. In this case I would delete the Adobe InDesign CS2 application folder (inside Applications) and do a reinstall from scratch of ID from CDs and then running the updates upto 4.0.4.

The reason I asked was that we recently had a customer who had a problem very similar to Lisa's after using the Migration Assistant to move a site-licensed (not activated) copy of CS2 to an Intel Mac. It's good to know that using the assistant on a normal activated copy of CS2 does work, Nini.

Re: InDesign on Intel not responding
InDesign was installed from CD's, under an account with administrative privledges. There is also Photoshop CS2 installed and that runs fine.
