Indesign postscript files TOO big+curves not sharp
Hi guys,
I use Indesign 2 and Indesign CS fo both pc and mac. It seems that each time I create postscript files to use on our DI Quickmaster Pro, they are so huge sometimes even 1.8Gb in size. Also when create EPS's from Indesign CS and then impose in Indesign CS, after i create postscripts our DI Quickmaster Pro is not able to rip this files.
Another problem is that when I create outlines for text and then send the files down to our DI Quickmaster Pro, some of the text ends up looking bold when it's not meant to be.
I will appreciate our assistance.
Thanks,
Tony

This is depending on what resolution in dpi your imposed images are set to, the number of them and your raster lpi settings. If there are also very complex line art graphic elements, this will load even more your output.
... some of the text ends up looking bold when it's not meant to be.
This depending on transparency flattener settings. Most probably you refer to text characters in or marginally close to objects with transparent regions. If so you can put your text in another layer than the transparent objects.

Re: Indesign postscript files TOO big+curves not sharp
thanks george,
I have not gotten myself to use layers but now I will start and see the effect.
All my scans are high res drum scans at 300dpi no more.
What about the refusal to rip? I cannot use Indesign CS as long as this happens...and this is sad not to be able to use new technology.
Thanks
Tony

For an EPS to go to 1.8GB at A4 page size single CMYK image the dpi res would be over 2000dpi than close to 300dpi: A4 = approx 96 sq inch, 2000dpi (linear) = 4000000 dpi (squared) or 4Mb per channel per square inch, 4Mb * 96 sq. inch = over 400Mb per channel and 1.6Gb for total of 4 channels. Something close to what you refer as 1.8Gb total
