IndesignCS - UNC Name in Link
We are using InDesignCS on a Windows XP machine. When you place an image, InDesign uses the UNC in the link even if you browse to the "mapped drive". This is a problem with our OPI product that swaps lores/hires images. A postscript file is created from the InDesign document with a path to the low resolution image. The file goes through a process in the OPI Software(Intersep by WaveCorp) and the low resolution images are swapped for high resolution images. This product requires the mapped drive as the path(for example F:\photo\lores instead of \\server\photo\lores). Since InDesign uses only UNC the process fails.
Any suggestions?
(I am also in contact with WaveCorp but they currently have no resolution at this time.)

Re: IndesignCS - UNC Name in Link
Beth, I have the exact problem with our install as well, on both CS and 2.0. Further complicating the issue, is that at this stage Indesign seems to randomly use either mapped drive letters or UNC path, with no consistency. Even for the same image from the same source. I had assumed this would have been a bigger problem for other users than it would seem to be judging on this forum? Hope we find an answer, m@
