Re: Index Freeze
Sandra,
It took a bit to jog my memory but here is what I did in order to solve my Index problem.
1. Open the document(s) that you think is/are creating the problem.
2. Hold down the option shift keys and select inDesign>About inDesign.
3. In the lower left of the box that appears you will see the document history, if it was converted from a former page design program it will be recorded there. If it was converted to inDesign from another program (PageMaker, Quark) that may be what is causing the indexing problem.
4. Close the box and now go back to the document and generate the Create Index making sure the More Options is selected in the dialog box.
5. Look at the bottom where the Entry Seperators is and if there are any diacritical entries delete them and enter your new seperators. All should now work for you, he said confidently. I'm not sure if Adobe didn't solve this problem in their 4.04 upgrade.

Re: Index Freeze
I'm having this very same problem. Has anyone out there had problems generating an Index in InDesign. I am on a Mac OSX Using InDesign CS2 4.0.4, with the newest updates. I created a book with 43 chapters. The Index only goes so far then crashes (845 of 944). I can make it work on a book with up to 12 chapters work, but when I try to add more it crashes.
Any ideas??

Re: Index Freeze
Virginia,
The answer to your problem is in my response within the Index Freeze thread. If you don't see it directly above your query then here it is again.
