index.html.new filename error

When trying to edit and publish a web page Contribute changes the file name
from index.html to index.html.new on the server. This happen when I loose my
dial-up connection will working on the page. Then of course my web page does
not show up when visiting the url. How do I prevent this from happening if I
loose my connection again or fix it if when it happens.
