Default Index in Acrobat 6 or acrobat 4 (Acrobat Catalog 4.0)

    Hello

I am looking for indexing software available to extract and compile indexable terms from PDF documents.
The documents are the chapters of a book of 800 pages.
can I use Adobe ® Acrobat ® family to make the Index ?

    many thanks!

Indexes are invariably created as part of the document authoring
process. While extracting references can be automated, you can't make
a worthwhile index with automatic compilation of terms. That will make
a concordance - academically interesting, but not an index as readers
    expect to find.

Currently we index our manuals into a PDX and use the search functionality, but that brings back every instance of the search term, which is very frustrating. I hope someone can help....
