    Default insert,update url_id

    Hello,

    I have a databsae table with about ten fields.
    Putting data to the fields has to go like this:
    1. serialnr and type fields have to be inserted by using a form
    however after these values are inserted into the database I want to go
    directly to the
    2. update page for that item to fill in the rest of the fields for that
    item/record (record_id as primary key).

    So after inserting 2 out of 10 fields into the database I want to go to step 2
    to fill in the rest of the data (other 8 fields). The data already entered I
    want to be displayed also.

    Can this be done, is this possible?

    Gr,

    Kabbi

    Hi,

    It's because in step 2 I have to have use data from the database:

    <cfset typenr = #FORM.type#>
    <cfquery name="nr" datasource="testdb">
    SELECT MAX(nummer) AS hoogste_nummer FROM device WHERE type = #typenr#
    </cfquery>

    There has to be a typenumber inserted in the type field.

    Do this on the page that accepts the initial form values:
    1. Run an insert query.
    2. Write another form with the remaining fields. You can display the ones just entered if you want.
