Inserting symbols
Is there some way to insert a library symbol to the exact location on the
canvas where it was when it was created? Thinking some kind of key you can
use while you drag or an Insert>Symbol menu somewhere.
Thanks;
Amy

Re: Inserting symbols
I am sorry. I should have been more clear. I meant when bringing a symbol
in from a library. For instance, the original symbol as been subsumed
inside an animation, and you need a copy where the symbol was to fill in
earlier frames. Or whatever.
I do appreciate the attempt, though.

Re: Inserting symbols
If you have it positioned in the right place on one frame, you can copy it,
and then paste in whatever frames you need to paste to. It will paste in
the same place on any frames to you paste to. If you want it on all frames,
then its better to put it on a layer on its own and share the layer across
all frames.
Does that work for you?

Re: Inserting symbols
Hey,
I think the only way you can do this is by creating a transparent BG image/item or just outline with no fill or stroke with the same size as your main (parent) document in the symbol window. (Symbol window becomes the same size as your main/parent window) Then place the symbol from the library on to the main stage and realign the X, Y coordinates to "0". This little trick have helped me few times.
I hope that helps!
