Install hp laserjet on solaris8 - Sun Solaris

Hi, we have a SUN Enterprise 450 Server with Solaris8 installed and i run several printer over the network succesfully. We just added a new (local) printer, the hp color laserjet 2500. I used the admintool to install that one, using /dev/term/b and postscript for printer type and file contents. lpstat -p tells me, that the printer is installed and idle. The server accepts printjob for the queue and I am able to access the queue for modifying and deleting job. But the printer doesn't work. It seems the job never reach the printer itself. Any idea what's wrong? Maybe ...

Default Install hp laserjet on solaris8

    Hi,

we have a SUN Enterprise 450 Server with Solaris8 installed and i run
several printer over the network succesfully. We just added a new
(local) printer, the hp color laserjet 2500. I used the admintool to
install that one, using /dev/term/b and postscript for printer type
    and file contents.

lpstat -p tells me, that the printer is installed and idle. The server
accepts printjob for the queue and I am able to access the queue for
modifying and deleting job. But the printer doesn't work. It seems the
job never reach the printer itself.

Any idea what's wrong? Maybe there is a problem with the parallel
cabel? I found some threads about a postcript filter script using gs,
but i'm not sure wethere that is related to my problem or not.

    Thanks, Thomas

/dev/term/b is the device file for a serial port, not the parallel port.
    Use /dev/ecpp0 instead.
