Most probably. It could be a glitch during the download (20 hrs gives plenty
of opportunity for that)

Install problem
Hi all,
I'm attempting to install version 3.0r1 on an AlphaServer 800 via ftp
and when I get to the Base installation it bombs out complaining it
couldn't download the libpcre3 package. I'm booting off the rescue and
root floppies.
Help?
Thanks,
Philip Juels

Install problem
I just installed Flash Communication Server on a windows server 2003.
The services "Flash Communication Server "and Flash "Communication Admin
Service" are running.
Upon login in the Administration Console from localhost I get the following
error:
"Failed to connect to server"
The sample apps also seems to miss something. The flash files are shown in the
browser, but they don't respond as expected.
Flash MX is not installed
Any ideas?

Re: Install problem
alrighty, one piece at a time.
you dont need flash, any kind of it except the player to connect to the server.
then. if the services are running, the server is running. no buts about it.
so you need to look for the problem in the connection. antivirus/firewall
software might block out ports used by flashcom(1935 and 1111). symantec
products are exceptionally good at this.
last, if you installed it and configured it to use other ports you need to
take that into account.

Re: Install problem
Ok,
The installer did not ask where I wanted to install the server administration
tools and sample files.
They should have been installed into the web server?s publishing directory.
When I create a virtual directory pointing to:
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Communication Server MX\flashcom_help
then at least the admin console works ok... even if the links in the menu
seems to be broken somehow...

Re: Install problem
The installer did not recognize IIS on the server and installed all the files
(including admin and samples) under
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Communication Server MX\
Any ideas why the installer couldn't see IIS?
Any ideas how to fix this after install?

Re: Install problem
i had no problem directly opening an admin console swf straight in a browser
(not going through a webserver, i mean) and using it to connect to various
flashcoms i had running.
if you must want it in a web server, i think it autodetects apache 2.

Install problem
I currently have version 5.0.13-rc installed and it's working fine (for
the most part). I'm trying to upgrade to 5.0.18 since, apparently, it
fixed an issue I've been experiencing with setting up a foreign key. I
downloaded the source from here:
http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-5.0/mysql-5.0.18.tar.gz/from/ftp://mirror.mcs.anl.gov/pub/mysql/
unpacked and went through the exact same process I went through when
install 5.0.13-rc (well, except that I stopped the server first this
time :p). I ran:
# ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql
# make
The configure went through w/o error. However, after the make had been
running for a while, it returned the following error:
g++ -DMYSQL_SERVER -DDEFAULT_MYSQL_HOME="\"/usr/local/mysql\""
-DDATADIR="\"/usr/local/mysql/var\""

I did a search on google but didn't come up with anything definitive as
to what the cause of my problem is. It looks like the make is having
an issue with LEX but I'm not sure why. What's different about 5.0.13
that I was able to install it w/no problem.
I don't suppose anyone knows what might be going on? And how I'd be
able to fix it?
thnx,
Christoph

by the (rather complex) source code of MySQLs SQL parser.
You can try the following:
1. run configure with --with-low-memory
if the problem still persists:
2. copy-and-paste the g++ commandline from above, change the -O3
to -O2 (or even -O1 or -O) to compile sql_lex.cc with lower
optimization level. Execute the commandline in the sql subdir.
You may also think about upgrading (or downgrading) your gcc and
to submit a bug report as suggested.

Re: Install Problem
The libstdc++ comes with what they call the Legacy programming libraries for
backwards compatibility. Install them and you should get your libraries. I
did and the install seemed to work fine for FMS2 on Linux Enterprise 4, but the
mfsmgr commands don't work. Can't get the server started! Adminserver seems
to be working fine, but edge and origin servers don't. Works fine on my
Windows machine. Any Linux pros out there? We need help!
