Hi - I tried dialing into tech support and gave up after the long hold.

My problem is that I started out with PS 4.0 - the cd was lost or destroyed.
I'm trying to load PS 5 on a new computer. During the installation, I am asked for the PS 4.0 disk. Since I don't have it - any ideas how to make the install work?

    Thanks,

    Hello,
I’m trying to install PHP using the Windows Installer that I downloaded from
your site, but the installation seems to hang up while copying the php.ini
file to c:\windows. I double click on the install icon, a popup appears that
indicates it is being installed, the time remaining indicates 0 minutes, but
it doesn’t seem to finish copying. I have waited 20 minutes for it to finish
but it keeps running. Then the ‘Select Nodes’ box pops up but it tells me the
other function hasn’t finish, and gives me the option to ‘switch to’ but I
get stuck there. How long does it take? Is there another issue? I am using
    Windows XP Professional, with IIS.
    Thanks.

Ack! There would be many more people after our hides if we did *that*.

You are not "upgrading" the 6.1 server to 7. You are installing 7 and
migrating your settings from 6.1. Coexistance seems to be a requirement
from the majority of our customers.

In the past (CF 5 and before) we always 'upgraded' the CF server - which
ment no going back. We listened to our customers and we don't do that any
    more....

It has been clear after this installation that it didn't upgrade 6.1. I'm no
software developer, but I image that it couldn't have been that difficult to
add some sort of "option" during installation to remove any previous
versions of CF using the CFMX 7 installer once settings are migrated.

Basically, you can't uninstall CFMX (without losing cfdocs and cfide) unless
you do it before installing 7. If you do that, how is the 7 installer going
to migrate your 6 settings? Am I the only one that sees that as a nuisance,
    if not a problem?

    Ian,

We do see the removal of CFIDE and cfdocs as a real problem. The problem is
caused by the CFMX 6.1 installer removing files that the 7 installer now
"owns", so it is hard if not impossible to fix. Trust me when I tell you
that nothing involving installation is "simple". CF has a very complicated
installation. That isn't an excuse, just a fact. Also think about if the
migration failed - they would be the possibility that the removal would
still happen. Or that you upgraded, picked the wrong option, then wanted to
roll back to CFMX 6.1. Too late, so sorry, it was a one way trip.

The opportunity for bad things to happen are large. So we take a very
conservative view. In this case, we have this problem because of it. The
best we can do is update the release notes and try and make sure we
broadcast info about the problem as best we can.

"Coexistance seems to be a requirement from the majority of our customers."

Why would anyone need two different versions of CFMX at the same time?
Shouldn't the "migrating your settings from 6.1" part be handled using the
Archives and Deployment feature? Why couldn't the MX 7 installer automatically
create a .car file from the MX 6.1 settings and then use it to maintain the
    settings for MX 7?

Re CFIDE and CFDOCS: If I make a copy of my CFIDE and CFDOCS folders after I
install MX 7, can I just copy them back into their proper place after I
uninstall MX 6.1? With this break anything?

This has certainly been one of the oddest "upgrades" I have ever witnessed,
and I STILL can't get that dreaded "JRun Connector Protocol Error" to go away!

    Default Re: Installation

Based on my installation, I would uninstall cfmx 6 first. For development
purposes, I didn't have a ton of mappings or datasources, so that is what I
would have done in hindsight. If the CFMX 7 installer had a repair option, I
wouldn't have had to reinstall to get my docs and ide back. All in all
though, the installation wasn't that big of a deal.

    Default Installation

Trying to get started with the trial version, I get an
    Expression Exception - in
    C:\CFusionMX7\wwwroot\CFIDE\gettingstarted\Applica tion.cfm : line 1
with message "Element LOCALE is undefined in REQUEST"
    whenever I open "index.cfm" in gettingstarted/tutorial.

The same file but with extension ".htm" works fine, of course. This appears to
    be a ColdFusion installation issue.
(Official customer support advised me to post a message like this, so I can
    get started.)

:confused; I cannot get Shockwave Player to install on IE7. All the files are
in C:Windows\Systems32\Macromed folder and are accessed by Firefox and Netscape
7.2, but when I try to install on IE, I get the message " You do not have
access to make system configuration modifications. Please rerun from an

as an Administrator. Any ideas what's keeping IE from allowing installation ?

I seem to have posted my problem on the wrong page. My problem is that I cannot
get the Shockwave player to install. I would get the Title in the ADD/REMOVE
area but no size indicated and also nothing in the ALL PROGRAMS area. I have
tried uninstalling it etc but this does not work. I am using XP sp2 Home
Edition. I have also turned off my Pop-up Blockers.
