installation Acrobat 7 on Tiger : Problem
I would like install Adobe Acrobat 7 on my PowerBook running uder MacOS X 10.4 Tiger. My disk is formatted in HFS+ case sensitive - a new option of Tiger.
I copied the folder in my Applications folder. No problem. Then I have installed Acrobat Distiller, it is OK. But when I launched Acrobat Pro 7, the application doesn't open. I've read that the problem came from the option "case sensitive" ? What do you think ? Is there a patch for this problem ?
Thanks
Thierry

HFSX is not supported, much like UFS isn't.

I read that somewhere, but haven't been able to locate the documentation
again. Do you have a link?

Re: installation Acrobat 7 on Tiger : Problem
Well, this is Apples's take:
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107863>
And Adobe included a statement in the CS2 Readme (not much help for point product users, but we're working on getting a kb article written)

Re: installation Acrobat 7 on Tiger : Problem
What gets me is why did APPLE add format settings That should only be used for the Server Package on The normal install disk.
Oh well even APPLe makes a boneheaded decission once in a blue moon.
I have a hard enough keeping up a website without getting tools to maintain a Server. ;-)

Re: installation Acrobat 7 on Tiger : Problem
Philip,
The journaled file system was first on OS Server and then supported for
ordinary users. The case sensitive file system was first for server, but
migrated to quickly to users. There is good reason to want a case
sensitive file system (it is more secure, given its unix heritage),
however all apps may need to be rewritten to take advantage of it. It
will probably take some time.

Re: installation Acrobat 7 on Tiger : Problem
I read that apple documentation post I believe in this thread and according it there is only very limited reasons why this would be used, and they don't recommend it for the average user.
