installation over net
Hi,
as I want to install RedHat 9 on a server (currently running an old
Suse) far away, I want to install it over the network.
I think, I have to create a ramdisk where I start the
installation-script and forward X to my home-pc. But in this case I
have only one try.
So where can I read more about this Problem? Is there a keyword for
this??
Or has anyone another suggestion??
Thanks,
Martin

No - you have to follow the instructions. Presumably on the RH website> I think, I have to create a ramdisk where I start the

Debian Onto a Remote Linux System". It's about installing Debian over
Redhat on a remote server, but you may learn from it anyway.
To quote: "Also, this procedure should be applicable to installing any
system that allows you to ssh (or maybe telnet - although not recommended)
into it. It would also have to respect the chroot environment while
installing. But why would you want a non-Debian server? :)"

Also, do you have a spare partition on the remote site that you can
unmount permanently and do a network based installation onto? Talk about
your hardware: RAMdisk is usually not the way to go....
