Default Installation problem

Just tried to install CF. Everything seemed to go OK, but then got the
following message:

Web Server Connector Configuration Error: Run the Web Server Configuration
Tool (wsconfig) to configure your web server after the installation completes.

http://localhost:8500 etc doesn't work, neither does 127.0.0.1 with/without
port 8500. I turned off the firewall; that didn't help either. I can't tell if
my Win XP Pro web server is running; when I try to turn on the CF server in
"services" I get an error too.

I also uninstalled/reinstalled several times to try to find out where the
problem was. Anyone know what's wrong?

You haven't provided enough information to go on. I would suggest opening a free installation support incident with Macromedia, http://www.macromedia.com/support/email/isupport/main.cgi
