installation problem with Acrobat 7.0 Pro Patch

Posted: 10-17-2008, 06:00 PM
I just bought a new iMac, and was finaly able to update my Acrobat Pro 7.0 via the Acrobat 7.0 Pro Patch which I downloaded last night (on my land line, it took several hours!).

I began the installation about 3 hours ago. The blue progress bar in Adobe Update Manager rapidly went to about 95%in the a minute or 2 and has stuck there since. I tried canceling the installation, but git a caution box that the installation was still in progress, so I continued with it.

But this isn't doing what it should be doing, correct?

Any suggestions for a successful install?

Thanks in advance.

You need to restart your Mac and try again - we don't know what will
happen if you leave the progress bar there ....

Not wanting to hide behind old software but ... Acrobat 7 is about 4
years old and will only work with older OSX systems .. Acrobat 9 was
released early Summer which is a very stable product with lots of wow
factor ;-)

Jon,

Interesting - I restarted and started the update again. The blue indicator went to 95% again and stopped, but this time there was a box that said the installation wouldn't work with the particular software. So I clicked on the OK there and the installation completed! I now have 7.0.7 and it looks fine. So the update, at least, works with Mac OS 10.5.2.

And you know, I'd love to upgrade to all the latest versions of my software now that I have this beautiful machine, but I'm retired and with the stock market in the the toilet, I'm trying not to spend money!
