Default installing CF on new Web server

We are going to upgrade one of our Web servers to a dual processor machine. We
are currently running CF MX 6.1. We use Red Alert to monitor our Web servers.
When other processes run such as the backup, we obtain Red Alert error messages
as the system is very slow. We hope a dual processor box will solve this
    problem.

The plan is to install the operating system and then install the remainder of
    the system from backup tape.

Is this ok? Is it better to install CF and other software applications from
scratch and only copy the Web pages and databases? Oracle client and SQL server
are also running on the server.

    Thanks for your help, Pam

Default Re: installing CF on new Web server

Just my opinion, I would do a fresh Coldfusion install, same with all software
on the machine. There's a lot that goes on with an install - registry entries,
dll files copied, I woulnd't trust a tape backup to get all that right,
especially if you already have some problem (slowness) in the original server.

With a fresh install of an OS, it's an opportunity to start over with the
applications and hopefully get every bit of extra performance available.

    Good luck!
