No, you will need to contact Adobe and purchase Windows version utilizing the cross platform deal. Note, by doing this, you are giving up the license on the Mac system.

Now, now, BGH, their could be outstanding circumstances.

(I thought John handled the question quite well, by the way.)

What if you won a copy of AI for Windows on say... Illustrator World, but only had a Mac? Or you bought it from some bogus salesman not thinking to ask what system it will run on.

When I first started with computers, I went to a show. Man, those people will try to sell you anything. Not only did I pick up a computer that I had ordered, but I bought this CD package that sounded like you could do anything. Five CD's - you had fonts, games, sounds, all the clipart one could want...(This was back in Windows 3.1.1)

I couldn't get any of the programs to work correctly. Alot of it was Dos based. It sucked for me. So did the support that came with my computer. Couldn't understand a word of what the tech was saying.

So, the moral of my story is to not be so sinical. I know it is unusual these days for people to not know the difference between platforms, but it could still happen. Salesmen have that way you know. Especially at a show where vendors are pushing thier products to anyone.

I have bought two major pieces of hardware from shows that I was very unhappy with, and had very little support to go through.

I am an optimist by heart. So, although I do have my doubts with this question...let's just ask the questioner what happened instead of accusing them of doing something wrongful.

Heather, so what is your story. Why the switch in platforms?

I got the programs for my MAC through school, however, I am trying to install them at work on a PC. My classmates have had no problems installing their programs on PC's at home, however, I am unable to do it. I'm wondering if everyone got programs that are compatible with both platforms, except me... or what...

Bottom line, I want to try to do this without having to re-purchase the programs.

And to you BGH- if you don't have anything nice to say, don't!

Was this software purchased? (It's grossly illegal for the school to hand out free copies of software, even if it's "just for this class.") If the software was purchased, you may be able to swap the program for the identical item at the student store after explaining that you were sold the wrong platform.

Also, FYI, your license doesn't allow you to install the program on more than one system at any one time. A lot of people ignore that for convenience sake but you definitely should not be installing the software at work if you also have it concurrently installed at home. Your workplace should purchase a new copy for your use.
