Make a boot floppy - most distros come with an image on the CD (Boot/Floppy
    dir usually)

The boot floppy is a good idea. But I am not following you on the
    motherboard thing.

Have you checked your BIOS and made sure that it is set to boot from
    the CD?

Boot whatever unmentioanable OS (:-) you have on your computer now,
and hold down Tab or F1 or Esc to access the BIOS. Then carefully
make the menu selection for booting from the CD. And check and make
sure you can boot from the floppy too, while you are at it.
There will be a place where you can determine the boot order, and I'll
bet it is set to just the hard drive right now.

    Welcome to Linux, Cameron !!!!

Do you have a network port on the system, and a floppy that you can use
to talk to a nearby RedHat mirror? OR can you put the drive in another
system and install it there, then put it back?
