First, search the TAs for information on oss653a. Try using that. If that doesn't help, your machine may have a newer nVidia graphics chipset. The BIOS for this chipsets is not compatible with OpenServer. A fix is under development but is not ready yet. You would either have to wait, or use a different laptop. Default Installing SCO on a Satellite Pro 6100

First, sorry for my english ...

    I'm new to Unix/SCO

I need to install SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 on a notebook (Toshiba Satellite Pro
    6100)
The installation only starts form floppy and not from CD.
From CD i get this screen :

Boot detected 1 fixed disk drive
    Drive 0080:detected
    Sco OpenServer(TM) Release 5
    Boot
    :
    fd(44)unix ram.fd=254
    Unix not found

Starting from floppy i get this line:
    fd(64)unix root=ram(7) ram.preload=7 swap=none dump=none nbuf=3 isl.S=3
    isl.pause ramdisk=fd(64)rootFS

After some steps the system halts and the screen is blank.
It performs those operations befor hanging:
    Sizing memory
Loading kernel fd(64)unix .text --> OK
Loading kernel fd(64)unix .data --> OK
    Loading kernel fd(64)unix .bss -->OK
Loading ram disk image fd(64)rootFS --> after some time (about 6 lines of
    dot) the screen becames dark

I have already tried to apply some of the info in TA #105937, but no success

    Please, help me

    Thanks in advance

This sounds like an incompatibility with the BIOS. SCO OpenServer 5.0.7
would probably get past this because the booting process was redesigned
    to avoid this problem.

I tried for weeks to get 5.0.6 onto a Satellite Pro and got assistance
from a number of much cleverer people than me and in the end we all
gave up! You can see the old thread in this group with the title
"Installing SCO 5.06 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100"
