Default Installing windows from a USB HD

Is it possible to copy the windows CD to a USB HD and then
install from here to the computers internal HD.

The reason for doing so is i would like to upgrade my Dell
RAS server from 2000 server to 2003 server but it does not
have a CDROM or floppy and i dont have an external CDROM
    to hand.

    Thanks for any help

Depends totally on the manufacturer and BIOS, I donąt think dell does, but
    Compaq I know does.

Assuming you're doing an upgrade install wouldn't it be easier/faster to
copy the windows CD to the local hard disk and then run setup from there?
