Intelligent/Interactive forms
Hi
We need to create intelligent/response forms, where the data can be submitted via e-mail. At present we are still running on Acrobat 5.05; if we upgrade to V7.0 will this allow us to make up such forms? The Windows version comes with Acrobat designer which allows the making of such forms, but that will entail us buying a new package rather than an upgrade, which obviously we would prefer not to do. Thanks in advance.

Re: Intelligent/Interactive forms
Submitting is not e-mailing; these are different things. Will your
end users all be buying Acrobat, or would you want it to work for
people with the free Reader.

Re: Intelligent/Interactive forms
Thanks.
Ok, the end users will be supplying (correct term?) data via e-mail, we will be supplying users with reader 7.0 if they do not have it, with Adobes appro. As I mentioned I know that this works with the windows version, we have done successful trials, the upgrade path is cheaper and suits our workflow better if it works.

Re: Intelligent/Interactive forms
Ensuring the email application can actually talk each and every time to
the command send by the form is not guaranteed.
You might want to look at the services that Formrouter provide (Adobe
recommended): http://www.formrouter.com/
A great way to enable web submissions without relying upon email.
Otherwise, if you have a good web services department with CGI skills
then call upon their services ...

That combination isn't really a starter. You should either be
supplying them with Acrobat or (Strongly Recommended) submitting the
form, i.e. sending it to a web server.

Re: Intelligent/Interactive forms
I take it that using the forms as Adobe obviously intend is not regarded as"OK" by the community. We do not at present have the means to use a web server, or a web services dept. The original question of whether we can design the forms on a Mac version still has not been resolved. I'll find somebody with a Mac version of 7.0 and trial it for myself, thanks for the comments.
