Interactive Employee Handbook in Flash?
I have been given the task to generate a new employee handbook / standard
operating procedures manual, and I want to make it a digital, interactive file
in lieu of a boring old notebook. I'm pretty familiar with Photoshop &
InDesign, but am self-teaching myself Flash. Before I dig too deep, I just want
to make sure it's possible.
My idea is to have the table of contents, with links to each section, etc.
Any advice, suggestions, etc is greatly appreciated!

Re: Interactive Employee Handbook in Flash?
You could but it seems Indesign/Acrobat would create something with the same
amount of interactivity that you describe. You could design it in Indesign and
export a PDF that has hyperlinks set from the TOC to the pages. Flash seems
like overkill and limits your users. This way they could print it if they felt
like taking it home for some exciting weekend reading.
Don't get me wrong, I try to do as many things as I can in Flash but given
your skillset and the type of job, I think PDF is the way to go. Look in
Indesign help for TOC and hyperlink.

Re: Interactive Employee Handbook in Flash?
Thank you for the advice!
Do you know if there is a way to limit what a viewer can see using a password?
(I know, now it's getting very complicated). For example, the manual would
include Administration Policies & Procedures, Sales Policies & Procedures,
Accounting Policies & Procedures, etc. I would like to be able to give the same
manual to everyone, but limit the Accounting personnel to only the
Administration & Accounting Policies & Procedures.
I definately think that I will use InDesign instead of Flash, since it's
possible in both worlds and I am much more familiar with the InDesign world...
Thank you for all of your help!

Re: Interactive Employee Handbook in Flash?
If you have Acrobat Professional (which is necessary to do this, I believe) open the Help and search for "password" I found a few entries on it right away. Good luck!
