Internet over AirPort with a PC - Mac Portable

Hello, I guess some of my problems were answered already, but I read through a whole lot of postings and couldn't figure out how to get my problems solved. Default Internet over AirPort with a PC

    Hello,
I guess some of my problems were answered already, but I read through a
whole lot of postings and couldn't figure out how to get my problems
solved. So I guess my questions are worth a try posting.

    My Problem is:
    1. A iBokk SE with AirPort
    and
    2. A PC with a Netgear MA101 USB 802.11b Adapter
should both be on the Internet...

I want to use my existing DSL Connection connected to the PC for surfing
    with the iBook.
The iBook connects via AirPort (i.e WLAN) to my PC which has the WLAN
    Adapter connected over USB.

So far I managed to get the iBook use the Files stored on my PC HDs.
BUT the Problem with the Internet persits.

    I distributed the following IPs:
    PC (Windows XP SP1)
    LAN: 192.168.0.1
    WLAN: 192.168.1.1

    iBook (OS X 10.2)
    WLAN: 192.168.1.2

I read somewhere that the WLAN should not be in the same Subnet as the
    normal LAN for whatever Reason...

Please help me, I paid a whole lot of money (in my terms) for the iBook
and I can't get it to work...

    Thanks for any help

I do not know anything about windows, but from a networking point of
view you have to either get the windows box to be a router, or you need
to put a router in your network.

If you want a separate router, then consider getting a Cable/DSL Router
with WiFi. Then set it up so that it provides routing and sharing for
your DSL line as well as WiFi base station services for your iBook and
your PC. Look on <dealmac.com> or <dealnews.com> for a good deal on
    such a unit.

    Hi Gunnar,

some solution for your home wireless network:
    - run the internet connection sharing stuff on your pc. Disadvantage:
    pc needs to be on
    - use a software router like Jana Server on your PC
    - get a wireless router. they start at around 50 euro or so (take a
look into ebay). Easy & efficient. Airport access should be no
problem. You could perhaps replace your LAN hub.
    - setup a simple linux router --> www.fli4l.de. (German only, sorry)
runs on old pc machines (486), rather easy to setup. You just need an
old pc, a wlan card, an ethernet adapter - and one floppy. That's it.

    Thanx for your help,
    I'll try this JanaServer.
I the meantime I found a Software Router, InterGate. For one day it
worked great, but now, after a Reboot, the Soft won't work like before,
    so is sux.
    I'll post any progress...

    Greets,
    Gunnar
