iPhoto problem
Hi all
I've just got a Canon A70 digital camera. Can someone tell me how I'm
supposed to get iPhoto to open when I plug it into my Powerbook? I've
tried with the camera turned on, off, with iPhoto open, closed etc.
Is there a magic sequence and settings (and where to set them) to get
this working? I thought it was automatic :)

Hi Meow,
There's an application called "Image Capture" which should be in your> I've just got a Canon A70 digital camera. Can someone tell me how I'm

Applications folder. Open this application, and check the preferences. There
is an option called "When a camera is connected, open:" and iPhoto is one of
the choices.
Not the most intuitive location for such a setting, I'll admit!

Re: iPhoto problem
I had a Canon G1 and all I had to do was plug in the USB cable, turn
on the camera and select the display pictures setting on the camera.
iPhoto would then gather the pictures and show how many were to be
imported. iPhoto would start automatically. I don't recall changing
any settings to get it to do that. It seemed to be intuitive.
Hope this helps.

Re: iPhoto problem
I dont have problem. I open iPhoto. Connect camera to a USB port.. Turn
on camera..Nikon 4300. Wait ten seconds, and up comes the blue "import".
Select that. and in they come. I guess this does not help much.
Graley.

since Canon is well supported. Are you connected via USB? Did you get
prompted by iPhoto to automamtically launch when a connection is
detected.
My experience with iPhoto started with an old HP digital camera which
only connected through a serial connection. Prior to my first Mac I
stopped using the serial port on a Windows machine because it took so
long to download photos. I used a flash card reader. When I got my iBook
I took the flash card reader and plugged it in. When I put the card into
the reader iPhoto would launch. Later when I got a Sony Cybershot for my
birthday I plugged it directly in and iPhoto prompted me for the option
to "Automatically" launch when the camera was connected. I have not seen
a settings within iPhoto to activate or deactivate this feature.
If you can provide more information that might help.
