iPhoto Question - Mac Applications & Software

I hope I can state my question intelligently. Let's say I have ten photos in my main Library, each photo is 100k for a total of 500k. Default iPhoto Question

I hope I can state my question intelligently.

Let's say I have ten photos in my main Library, each photo is 100k for
    a total of 500k.

Now I start a new album to create a book or whatever and I copy those
ten photos from the main library into the new album.

Will this increase my overall iphoto total to 1000k or will it remain
    at 500k?

First, 10 photos at 100K each will be 1000K :)

Your iPhoto total will increase by about 40K (aliases typically take up
about 4K of disk space, each) when you place those files in an album.
There will be a small amount of overhead added by creating the album as
    well (structural information).

    It won't remain at 500k because it never was 500k (10 X 10 = 500???).

The total will remain at 1000k.

The total amount of disk space used by iPhoto will increase by about
44k. I'm not sure whether iPhoto will report that as 544k or 500k.

iPhoto stores only one copy of a photo, no matter how many Albums it's
in. The real photo is in the Library, and the Albums just contain
aliases. If you rename or edit a photo in one Album, it'll be changed
in the Library and all other Albums too.

iPhoto does have a "Duplicate" command, in case you want to make a copy
of a photo -- but then you'll see it in your Library twice.

On the other hand, if you edit a photo in iPhoto, you'll end up with two
copies of it on your hard disk, and you'll only see it once in the
Library. iPhoto keeps a backup copy of the original, so if you ever
need it again, you can get it back by using the File -> Revert to
Original menu command. (This only applies when you edit the photo, not
when you change its title, date, or keywords.)

Sorry about my math, I REALLY do know that 10x100=1000. I must have
been thinking about Bill Gates at the time.

In any event I'm glad to hear that the new album will contain "aliases"
and not have a great effect on adding to my hard drive.

    Thanks.
