Intel64 <--> AMD64 (not sure which 64-bit platforms DB2 is on right now; I'm talking about the technical restrictions inside the backup/restore code). You can't move backups between, say, Intel32 Linux and S/390 Linux, not least of all because one is little- endian and the other is big-endian. dave [allowsmilie] => 1 [showsignature] => 0 [ipaddress] => [iconid] => 0 [visible] => 1 [attach] => 0 [infraction] => 0 [reportthreadid] => 0 [isusenetpost] => 1 [msgid] => [ref] => <814a65cb.0309242244.336d3cde@posting.google.com> <4hxcb.1227$Xl2.73328@news.uswest.net> [htmlstate] => on_nl2br [postusername] => David [ip] => dmm@vnet.ibm.co [isdeleted] => 0 [usergroupid] => [membergroupids] => [displaygroupid] => [password] => [passworddate] => [email] => [styleid] => [parentemail] => [homepage] => [icq] => [aim] => [yahoo] => [msn] => [skype] => [showvbcode] => [showbirthday] => [usertitle] => [customtitle] => [joindate] => [daysprune] => [lastvisit] => [lastactivity] => [lastpost] => [lastpostid] => [posts] => [reputation] => [reputationlevelid] => [timezoneoffset] => [pmpopup] => [avatarid] => [avatarrevision] => [profilepicrevision] => [sigpicrevision] => [options] => [akvbghsfs_optionsfield] => [birthday] => [birthday_search] => [maxposts] => [startofweek] => [referrerid] => [languageid] => [emailstamp] => [threadedmode] => [autosubscribe] => [pmtotal] => [pmunread] => [salt] => [ipoints] => [infractions] => [warnings] => [infractiongroupids] => [infractiongroupid] => [adminoptions] => [profilevisits] => [friendcount] => [friendreqcount] => [vmunreadcount] => [vmmoderatedcount] => [socgroupinvitecount] => [socgroupreqcount] => [pcunreadcount] => [pcmoderatedcount] => [gmmoderatedcount] => [assetposthash] => [fbuserid] => [fbjoindate] => [fbname] => [logintype] => [fbaccesstoken] => [newrepcount] => [vbseo_likes_in] => [vbseo_likes_out] => [vbseo_likes_unread] => [temp] => [field1] => [field2] => [field3] => [field4] => [field5] => [subfolders] => [pmfolders] => [buddylist] => [ignorelist] => [signature] => [searchprefs] => [rank] => [icontitle] => [iconpath] => [avatarpath] => [hascustomavatar] => 0 [avatardateline] => [avwidth] => [avheight] => [edit_userid] => [edit_username] => [edit_dateline] => [edit_reason] => [hashistory] => [pagetext_html] => [hasimages] => [signatureparsed] => [sighasimages] => [sigpic] => [sigpicdateline] => [sigpicwidth] => [sigpicheight] => [postcount] => 5 [islastshown] => 1 [isfirstshown] => [attachments] => [allattachments] => ) --> Is backup db2 8.1file binary compatible in differents Unix systems? - IBM DB2

Is backup db2 8.1file binary compatible in differents Unix systems? - IBM DB2

Hello, Can I restore redirect a db2 backup file from Intel Linux system to RS6000 AIX system? I know that is no possible from W2000 to Unix systems, but I don´t know the differents unix compatibility. Thanks in advance...

    No, there are 3 compatibility groups which can only be backed-up and
    restored within each group:

    1. AIX, HP/UX, Sun Solaris

    2. Linux

    3. Windows

    HP/UX Intel and AIX RS6000 too?

    DB2 v8 backups on AIX/6000 (pSeries) can be restored on DB2 v8 HP/UX
    PA-RISC and vice-versa.

    DB2 is not yet available on HP/Intel (Itanium). When it is, I'm not sure
    whether backups will be compatible with DB2 for AIX or DB2 for HP PA/RISC.
