IS COLOR CORRECTION OF PHOTOS POSSIBLE IN INDESIGN 2.1?
Hi, Im using ID 2.1 with Windows 98. My 224 page book is set to go on the press Monday morning. Today at 5 pm the printer called and said they were unable to reduce the color on two pages. Each contains numerous 1'' square photos, saved as bmp and jpg, some from a government web site and others from analog camera capture saved to computer. The resolution is fine on all as evidenced on the book proofs but the colors are saturated and lack natural flesh tones. I have Corel Draw 10 which has the capability I need but was wondering what is the simplest way to color correct. Please help quickly as they want me to make the changes and send to them tomorrow! Thank you in advance Harold Gladstone

Re: IS COLOR CORRECTION OF PHOTOS POSSIBLE IN INDESIGN 2.1?
Thank you Bob for once again coming to my rescue. Been having trouble sending messages today. Disconnection almost always ensues. As you have learned I am still a novice in spite of my valiant efforts to the contrary. When the pictures were placed on the two pages and printed on my Epson they appeared ok, bordering on fine. But when pdf was made and print firm printed the 224 page proof they became color saturated although several other color pages remained unchanged. You see, I don't have Photoshop and wondered if CorelDRAW 10 would suffice. If this is my only hope, in which format do you recommend saving the color photos? Appreciate your assistance Harold Gladstone

Jumping in here: Always place either EPS, TIF or PSD - other formats really
aren't suitable for commercial printing.
I'm assuming from your post that you're printing at least those 2 pages as
CMYK; make sure all the photos are CMYK. Since there is nothing like enough
time to go into calibration of monitor, scanner, printer and color
correction, your best bet will be to tell the printer you'll accept whatever
color correction he chooses to apply. The alternative is to delay the print.
You can, of course, ask for a press check. And CorelDraw certainly has
enough capability for this job - just watch your color space.

Corel Draw doesn't have this capability, however Corel PhotoPaint does.
