Is Gameranger a trojan ???? - Mac Networking

My son has started using Gameranger, however when checking my ADSL useage I find that there is a hell of a lot of data being uploaded from my machine, 43Mb of it, before game ranger it has been in the 1Mb or less range. What the hell is Gameranger doing that it needs that amount of data sent to it, and no I do not have any p2p software loaded on that machine....

A trojan is something one downloads, believing it to be
useful somehow, because it masquerades as something harmless.
I reckon if the boy is using an online game service, he
has to upload/download continuously, at the maximum speeds
    available on xtra.co.nz.

You know, Gameranger is a reputable company that provides a lot of
enjoyment to Mac gamers. The way you have phrased your question
slanders their good name without cause. These are real people, trying
to make a living by providing a service, not some faceless monolith.

    Shame on you.

I think its a legitimate question, given his concern and apparent limited
understanding the purpose of the client/host app.
The only objectionable content I found is the word 'hell', in its context-
but again stems from apparent limited knowledge of internet gaming.
God forbid he check IPX, or Battle.net...
