Is the bitmap of a picture still necessary after converting to a symbol?
Assume I imported a picture into the library. Then I converted this small Bitmap to
a symbol (e.g. a Button). Provided that i do not need the original image somewhere else
in the source can I delete it from library?
In other words is it necessary for the existence of a symbol that its original
bitmap exists in parallel?

yes you still need the bitmap in the library. But if you trace the bitmap,
you won't need the original file anymore.
