Is there a feature that's equivalent to FrameMaker's variables?
Is there an InDesign feature that is similar to variables in
FrameMaker? In other words, in our InDesign file, we'd like to define a
`variable' in one place and then use that variable in numerous other
places in the document (such that if the base definition of the
variable is changed, that new definition propagates throughout the
document, changing every occurrence of the given phrase/word in the
document).
The InDesign users that I work with don't know of such an InDesign
feature, although one of them thinks that there might be software that
would run on top of InDesign (a plug-in maybe or separate software
altogether? ) that allows for this capability or something close to it.
If you have information about this, please let me know. Thanks.
