is there any import or other ability to open micrografx designer 9 files in illustrator
I used to use Micrografx Designer 9 to create all my vector graphic images, but it does not work very well in Windows XP and I am looking for a newer program.
The newer Designer 10 trial will not install on my 80G hard disk and Corel absolutely refuses to help in any way unless I buy the software. Yea, right like I am going to spend $500 for software that may not even work.
Anyway, sorry for the babble.
I am looking into Illustrator as it came highly reccommend from others. But I was wondering if there was any way I could import my Designer 9 files somehow into Illustrator since I have so many of them.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Tony

Re: is there any import or other ability to open micrografx designer 9 files in illustrator
It seems that you can export as pdf from Designer, AI can open those...
Otherwise, see if will export as EPS, or WMF. I know that from .CMX file types, Corel's mixed raster/vector format, I had to save the file into .wmf format, before AI would open them up. However, once in AI, make sure to use the Simplify command under the Object > paths command, as the .wmf files will contain WAY TOO MANY points!
