ISO Zip Code software
This is a shot out in the dark, but I'm getting frustrated. Does anyone know of a program to create barcodes for nine digit USPS Zip codes that can be used in InDesign?
Thanks!
Sean

OCRA, OCRB, MICR or PostNet and (possibly) Bar Code fonts. These are the actual names of the fonts by the way.

Re: ISO Zip Code software
in addition to the font called 'zipcodebarcode' you will need instructions from the postal service to format it correctly--there are additional numbers and characters necessary to make it properly readable (it begins and ends with a letter and additional numbers sometimes need to be added to make it 'add up' to a number exactly divisable by 10--the postal service says a 'multiple of ten' but they are mistaken because, for example 60 is divisable by 10, but it is not a multiple of 10--mutiples are 10, 100, 1000 etc)-there are resources available online that describe how to format---google- 'zip code bar code instructions'

Re: ISO Zip Code software
If you just need the simple 9-digit code that appears below the address, just get a Zip Code font. Do a google search. The zip code has a standard character that begins and ends the string (look in the Glyphs palette). The nine numbers of the zip code, plus a "verifier" number at the end, go in the center. You add up the nine digits, and whatever digit is needed to make the total have a zero at the end, is the tenth digit of the code. If you look at them for a while, you can learn to "read" the tall/short lines just like the postal service readers. This information was given to me by someone who has worked at the post office for many years.

Re: ISO Zip Code software
I know there's a bunch of bar code generators on versiontracker in free, shareware, and commercial variants. Just type bar code into the search field (and maybe sort from newest to oldest).
