Issues with windows 2003 SP1
My application has been running fine for the past 4 months on Windows Server
2003. After a recent security review I needed to apply a few patches to the OS.
So I installed SP1 and now my site does not work. You can get to the login page
but is you click any links or try and login you lose all session variables but
the cookies are still there. It's like your trying to access the page for the
first time. Has anyone else had this problem or have any Ideas on what I need
to do to correct the issue?
Thanks
Ian

Re: Issues with windows 2003 SP1
Is it bug fixed by Micromedia?
We use CF 6.1 with all hotfixes on 2003 Server SP1 and after reboot 3-4 hours
all work Ok, but after this 3-4 hours client variables losing, and CF
application doesn`t work properly.
After full reboot 3-4 hours all work Ok again.
Help me, please.

Re: Issues with windows 2003 SP1
Hey people,
I believe the problem is due to the fact that SP1 for windows 2003 turns on the windows firewall by default. Turn it off, hopefully your problems will disappear... :)

Re: Issues with windows 2003 SP1
If you about service SharedAccess, it is disabled. We use ISA Server 2004 for firewalling. Before install SP1 on server 2003 all worked fine.
Any other ideas?

Re: Issues with windows 2003 SP1
Un-install SP1. I work for a mid-sized web-hosting company and we don't
install this service pack on new Windows 2003 builds due to problems like this
arising. We install every other critical update, but not this one. And we
have yet to see a negative consequence of not installing it.

We uninstalled SP1, and now all works fine.
But this is not a best way.
What are thinking in Macromedia about?

Re: Issues with windows 2003 SP1
Hi Eugene,
I'm not a big fan of ColdFusion MX's stability (or lack therof), but I
wouldn't consider this particular issue to be a ColdFusion problem. It's a
Microsoft problem. Just as Windows XP SP2 broke lots of things, so does
Windows 2003 SP1.

Re: Issues with windows 2003 SP1
Have any of you looked at excluding CFMX/JRun from the Data Execution
Protection option thingie-mah-bob after installing SP1? I upgraded a CFMX 6.1
Enterprise-stand alone to SP1 and it worked fine. In the process of upgrading
said machine to CFMX 7 Enterprise-multi server.

Re: Issues with windows 2003 SP1
Not sure what configuration you'd need to do. I've got 7 up and running on W2k3 SP1 without any issues.
Getting any specific errors?

Re: Issues with windows 2003 SP1
I have not installed it yet, I am resarching first and after reading this
thread it looks like installing SP1 will cause problems. Has anyone else
experinced problems installing Windows 2003 SP 1 on a server that is running
Coldfusion MX 6.1?

Yup, I have it running here all fine and dandy.
My steps were :
Ensure Virusscanning is removed from the server - not just turned off.
I found all my cf install issues dissapeared after this step!
I then install CF 6.1(with jrun4) instaled the updaters / security patches etc
rebooting as necessary.
Once CF was installed I re-installed the virusscan software (Mcafee enterprise
in this case)
then w2k3 sp1.
This server has been up and running since september last year - no issues.
