"It's Taking Over!" - Adobe Photoshop Elements

Very new to all this, just installed Elements 2.o Windows Home XP. That went OK, but later on when trying to just look at some downloaded web photos, Elements gets "triggered" and every photo gets sent to its program? I want to be able to select which photo goes there. Is there a process to "disable" this function? Thanks!...

In PE go to Edit>File Associations and you can change the file types that PE opens.

    Ralph,

Barbara's method WILL certainly assign the raster formats to Elements, but if you wish to select those raster images to another program, such as ACDC or your Browser, etc. you'd have to use the options available to your for your operating system. I don't know what they do on a MAC, but on a PC that would mean using something like My Computer or Windows Explorer (logo key + E) and right click on any file with the format you'd like to change, then Open With, Choose program and from your list of installed programs, choose the one you wish to now be associated with that image format and be sure to check the box that states: "Always use the selected program to open this type of file". Click OK. Now when you click on a file of this format outside of a program, this will be what it opens in. But, of course, you still can open any of these files in any raster accepting program if you do an OPEN from within that program itself.

Yup, Chuck. Some time ago, actually. I just don't post all that often, as you regulars seem to be doing such a great job of taking care of business.
