Default I've had it with this printing CRAP!!!

    Hello

After wrestling with these forums for WEEKS and not coming to a solution, I ended up creating a new user in Panther to print to my Epson C84 (WITH DRIVERS).

I opened one document up in Illustrator CS and it printed just fine. I then opened another document, and MY PRINTER DOES NOT EVEN APPEAR IN THE FRIGGIN MENU!!!!!

These inadequacies are really making me angry! I paid a lot for this software, and I am regretting it. FIX THE SOFTWARE!!!!

Which software, Illustrator, OSX or the printer drivers? Since other people can print to different printers with Illy CS on OSX, maybe it isn't Illy's fault. I know it is frustrating, but hang in there. This forum is full of helpful folks who want to help.

Sorry for the explosion, it's VERY frustrating.

I've taken to exporting my files to PDF and printing them using Preview. It may work, but it is NOT an answer.

I'm running a brand new installation of AI CS on a Panther Mac which was installed in November (or so). I have kept my Mac IMMACULATE except for MaxMenus. That's the only system mod I have on this computer.

I have trashed prefs, uninstalled and re-installed apps and printers, fixed permissions, and done everything else suggested here in the forums. I am convinced that the problem is in Illustrator CS because I can print FINE from AI 10. The same problem happens with Acrobat 6 pro, but not with Photoshop CS.

Illustrator CS is a great app, and I will continue using it because of its rich feature set and its portability. It has a VERY problematic printing system. I'm not saying that the old way of handling printing was the best way, but Adobe MUST make sure that their new system works before they release it.

    Steve,

Michael is right though... hang in there. You may indeed have a software problem but one thing we all see in working with computers is that one issue may be caused by a whole host of different problems (from hardware to software to human) and we never know which one it is until we start wading through it. That's one of the good things (and maybe bad too if you look at it like that) about any forum help... everybody throws out suggestions and possible solutions and they may be right on or have nothing to do with your problem, but, as frustrating as it seems at times, just keep plugging and try to work through it. Good luck.
