BK Can you help with this one? You are good at solving problems.

Hi guys, I am trying to use LDAP as a web service. Here is what I ultimately
want to do. When users go to different ColdFusion applications I would like for
this application to be able to authenticate them by invoking a CFC component as
a web service. I have been able to make successful calls when I set the access
attritube of the function to public. I have not been able to make a successful
connection when I set the function to web services and access to remote. I keep
    getting this error message.

Web service operation "SearchPerson" with parameters
    {Form.Password={xx},getGroup={},For m.username={xx},} could
    not be found.

Here is my code for the Component. I suspect this needs to be called in a
different way. Please note that the method getMessage works fine.

Here is component and calling page:

your searchperson function needs access="remote", not access="public".
that's why you're getting this particular error.....the wsdl that axis is
generating under the hood does not include the SearchPerson method because
    it's not marked as remote.

what error do you get when you mark this function as remote?

i think i see. your search method only has one argument, but it looks from the
error message that you're trying to pass it 3 arguments. try adding the
appropriate cfargument tags and see what happens.

I agree with Jonnycattt. The function searchPerson should have at
least the 3 arguments in your call. I would also

    1) use "no" instead of "0" in output="no"
    2) remove the form scope from the variable-names that you pass to the
searchPerson. There can be confusion, as form-variables are visible to
an invoked function. In general, the variable name you pass should just be a
scopeless dummy which acquires the Arguments-scope, once it is within the
function. That is, within the function, you will use Arguments.username,
    Arguments.password and Arguments.getgroup
    3) give the non-required argument, cfcName, a default value
