Javascript Drop down menus and SWF Ad on the site
Hello,
I have a problem which I would appreciate if anyone can help.
I have a row of drop down JavaScript menus at top of the website I have
designed. But when I added a SWF banner below the menubar, when the menus open
they go beneath the SWF banner and can't be seen.
Is there a way to change the layer order. I mean is there a way so that the
menu bars open on the SWF and not behind it?
Thanks,

Re: Javascript Drop down menus and SWF Ad on the site
Open mm_menu.js and hack the javascript so that each of the strings that
build the dynamic writes for the layers is coded to use a z-index of 2 not
1.
Better yet, rip the javascript menus out and do them the right way - see
these tutorials -
http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/menuing/mcloser/index.htm
or
http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/auto_hide/index.htm
and here's an example you can analyze -
http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/autolayers/
HOWEVER - no matter what you do, you will not be able to make your layers
rise above your Flash.
All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so to speak,
including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and Active X controls.
This means that they do poke through layers. There is not a good
cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but if you can be
confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can use the Flash
wmode parameter. It doesn't work in all browsers (NN4) but it's implemented
in the latest netscapes:

Re: Javascript Drop down menus and SWF Ad on the site
That's not an answer to his question. The correct answer is that flash is
considered an active element. All active elements, such as some HTML forms
elements, ActiveX, Plugins etc. will rise to the top of all the other browser
elements. The solution is to move the menu or the flash movie out of the way of
the dropdown menu.

That would be one solution.
