JPEG export does not work - Macromedia Freehand

I need to export my Freehand image as a JPEG. I set the dpi to 300, and the quality to 100% Freehand generates a JPG file. But... it is NOT at 300 dpi (looks more like 72) and is NOT 100% quality (looks more like 50%) I am using Freehand 11.0.2. I have spent the last hour trying to find a solution on Macromedia's -poor "Support" pages. They call it 'tech support', which says it all really. Macromedia, it's not the 'tech' that needs the support, you geeks... it's us humans! Will spend another 30 minutes, then switching to Illustrator ...

Have you used Raster Effects in the doent? Set File/Doent
Settings/Raster Effects Settings to 300 ppi and see if that helps.

Freehand has never done a good job at exporting Jpegs or Gifs. I ALWAYS take
the image over to Photoshop and save it as a Jpeg there. Much better quality
and better control over the image. If you don't have Photoshop...get it.

Don't give up on Freehand. We need as many users as possible to justify Adobe
    continuing the product.
