jrun memory maxing out with cf8 on vista - Coldfusion Server Administration

g'day, I am running cf8 on vista business, and all of a sudden jrun max's out without even running anything. I have re-installed CF8, IIS, and also tried a different JRE and yet it still runs at full memory. I had to dropped the max heap size down to 128mb to be able to keep my PC managable. Even then it is running at over 220mb. has anyone else experienced this problem before? And help would be great!...

    It is not uncommon to see an idle CF 8 application at 250 MB. That is
    why the system requirements list "512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)". Just
    give CF the RAM it needs to work.

    Thanks for you reply. I would be happy if it only idled at 250mb. On the
    default install when the heap size is 512, then it will idle at 550mb, as soon
    as cold fusion starts (no browser open, nothing accessing coldfusion) it sky
    rockets straight upto the max amount of memory allocated to it. The thing is I
    looked at the stats and apparently JVM is only using about 60mb, so the other
    500mb is memory is coming from somewhere else. I would like to think this is
    normal, but out of all the computers in the office here, 1 is having the same
    problem as me, and the rest are running normal (using around 100-200mb). I
    understand it using more in a production environment, but this is a single user
    development environment.

    What do you have in your jvm.config exactly? The behaviour you describe
    is consistent with not just setting a maximum memory size, but also an
    initial memory size.

    I get the same thing happening. Running IIS 7 on Vista. Re-installed twice now
    to see if that was it. I've limited my Xms64m -Xmx128m so it doesn't use it
    all up, but not the solution. Seems when jrun.exe starts it takes a lot of
    memeory, but never lets go. Maybe an IIS7 issue, since a co-worker has the same
    box, but runs apache without this issue.

    It has to do with RDS. Disable RDS if you are not using it. You can disable it
    by locating the web.xml file and commenting out this part:

    <!-- Disable RDS
    <!-- begin RDS -->
    <servlet id="coldfusion_servlet_8789">
    <servlet-name>RDSServlet</servlet-name>
    <display-name>RDS Servlet</display-name>
    <servlet-class>coldfusion.bootstrap.BootstrapServlet</servlet-class>
    <init-param id="InitParam_103401311065856789">
    <param-name>servlet.class</param-name>
    <param-value>coldfusion.rds.RdsFrontEndServlet</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </servlet>
    <!-- end RDS -->
    -->

    This looks like it might be a bug. Anyone want to submit it as such? RDS on
    Vista and IIS7. I can reproduce it on 2 boxes.
