Hi Sami, Thanks a lot for your reply. bootparamd is running. Don't do that!

    Doing this will make it impossible to install more than one machine
    from your installation server!

    Hi

    The name shown in snoop doesn't match the nfs share because it's fully
    qualified. Try to put ilamail in /etc/hosts (short name first). Should
    work then.

    Hi thanks a lot to everyone who replied to my post.

    Yes everything in /etc/bootparams is one line. I've tried
    using fully qualified domain name, short name & IP address.
    No luck at all.

    I would appreciate it if somebody can give me a solution to this.
    I need to jumpstart quite often.

    Thanks,
    Rajesh.

    That's all??? IMHO there should be at least an NFS packet from the
    client.

    Well, I've no ideas more. Only some further shots in the dark.

    Did you ever install a machine with this installation server?

    Maybe you should double check the mini root on your installation
    server used by the client ( .../Solaris/Tools/Boot ). Create a new
    mini root from the installation cdrom and compare it with the existing
    directory.

    Maybe root cant mount it?

    * How does your share look?
    * Whats your bootparams?
    * How did you add the client to TFTP?
    i.e. did you use the add_install_client script?
    if so, from where?

    Default Jumpstart problem

    I'm having a problem installing SUNWmdr and SUNWmdu during a custom
    jumpstart with Solaris 9 8/03.

    I do

    package SUNWmdr add
    package SUNWmdu add

    in the profile, and I get:

    Solaris 9 software installation partially failed

    Solaris 9 packages partially installed
    SUNWmdr
    SUNWmdu

    Checking /var/sadm/system/logs/install_log I find:

    pkgadd: ERROR: exec of /sbin/sh failed, errno=13
    pkgadd: ERROR: checkinstall script did not complete successfully

    Installation of <SUNWmdr> failed (internal error).
    No changes were made to the system.
    pkgadd: ERROR: exec of /sbin/sh failed, errno=13
    pkgadd: ERROR: checkinstall script did not complete successfully

    Installation of <SUNWmdu> failed (internal error).

    Sunsolve has a couple bug reports that have no solutions or workarounds
    that appear similar - 4816293 and 4689829.

    The permissions on the install server directory are good all the way down
    to the package.

    Has anyone seen this problem and know what the cause might be?

    Thanks in advance.

    SUNWreq, then I add a number of packages, including SUNWmdr/u. I have the
    same failure using a stock /jumpstart/Profiles/entire-distribution.profile
    from jass-4.0.0 with the additional failure of SUNWjhrt/jhdev with the
    same error code.

    Also, when the system reboots, and I manually nfs mount from the install
    server and manually do a pkgadd, it works without a hitch.
