Default Just read the InDesign Bible and still stumped

Okay, I'm new to InDisgn using CS on Windows XP. I just read the 900 page InDesign Bible and tried to open my first layout that I've been working on. ( I last saved it 4 days ago). When I double click the icon I get an error message that reads: InDesign.exe - Application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

This is blowing my mind. It may be a windows issue, but I haven't been able to find anything in that help are.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. THANKS MUCH!!

What happens if you just launch ID? Have you tried trashing prefs? Are
you fully patched to the most recent CS 3.0.1 update?

Yes, I gopt the 3.0.1 and haven't been able to open to trash the prefs, but had been opening it last week without altering the prefs.

I get the same error when I try to launch from the start menu.

I did refrag the hard drive between the last time I used it and now. I guess I'll try to re-install it, but figuring out what happend to prevent it in the future would be nice. M

Then I suggest you delete those prefs manually. Then uninstall ID. Make
sure you clean out the folder and any leftover files and reboot. Then
    reinstall.

There's not much to figure out. FWIW, the same thing happened to me a
couple of months ago. No matter what I did it just crashed. Something
    went corrupt somewhere.

If I reinstall, won't that clean out the preferences? Could it be that I have conflicting preferences in the document, versus globals?

How do I delete the prefs manually if I can't open ID? Is that in the presets folder? I thought that was short shortcuts, swatches and plug ins.

Here's where they are on my machine:

    C:\Documents and Settings\R Levine\Application
    Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 3.0

And no, reinstalling does not delete prefs. So try launching ID after
    deleting them manually.
