Kb821557 desktop drive shortcuts
after downloading and installing kb821557 my desktop
shortcuts for accessing my cd and zip drives no longer
work, (target invalid) and cannot be corrected.
kb821557 has to be uninstalled for shortcut correct
operation to be restored.
can anyone suggest a fix please?

Turning off (disabling) AV program before getting this fix is 1 item; and doing the restart after it completes, is the 2nd thing.
Security updates 821557 ---- It *appears* that some pc's are having problems installing it or getting after-effects.
Do you have a software firewall? or none?
Do you have an antivirus program, and was it "active" at the time of the install?
For fix 821557 the pc must already have XP's Service Pack 1. Also note you MUST restart Windows after the install completes.
The reason I asked on antivirus, is that this places an updated copy of Shell32.DLL. Hence, it may well be an antivirus could interfere with the update process.
