Or does it never connect successfully?

Check in computer mgmt (right click "my computer" select "manage") --> Event
    Viewer --> Systems
Check to see if there is a remoteaccess msg indicating you have been
disconnected by your ISP and see if it tells you anymore as to what might
    have cause the disconnect.

And you are sure that this ISP account is valid and works on your old OS
    (win98) without any issues?
Who is your ISP if you don't mind me asking?

We could do a few more triage steps to see why the disconnect happened by
    analyzing the ras logs
I'll wait for your response first
Did you try getting tech support from the ISP company as well?

    thanks
    Wai-O

I have the same problem (see my recently posted message).
I have checked my remoteaccess message and it just says it
was disconnected. By the way different provider phone
numbers, different phone lines, and different providers
did not affect the problem. Using a different computer
(Windows 95 & older brouser) works fine.

    Hi, again:

An addition to my previous message: I noticed in the
EventViewer that everytime there is a disconnect noted in
the systems/remoteaccess there is a IPSecServices Failure
Audit listed (Category: Policy Change) under Security.

    Does this tell us anything?
