Keep PhotoDeluxe 2 ?
I have just installed Photoshop elements 2.0.
Do I need to keep PhotoDeluxe 2.0, or are all its pictures automatically picked up by Photoshop ?

Re: Keep PhotoDeluxe 2 ?
Jack, PhotoDeluxe 2 should be storing your images in a folder or folders on
your hard drive. If you can find those folders, try opening some of the
images with Elements' File>Open. Chances are, they'll open just fine. If
so, you can do away with PhotoDeluxe unless it has some features that you'd
like to retain (seems to me I remember hearing that it was better at red eye
reduction than Elements)

PhotoDeluxe has several places it may have photo's you have worked on as
well as an associated program you may have used named Easy photo. Go to
these file folders within PhotoDeluxe and easy Photo and move the pictures
to your My Documents folder. Photoshop Elements wisely does not store
photos in the program file folder like you are (or may be) used to.
Once done I see little reason for having PhotoDeluxe excepting maybe using
the "greeting card" maker or there may be another item like that. It is
now over 18 months since I have opened PhotoDeluxe so I don't remember all
its features exactly. But that is the point; Once I started using
Photoshop Elements 1 and then later moved to 2... I don't even think about
Photodeluxe.

Re: Keep PhotoDeluxe 2 ?
Hello Jack,
I wouldn't get rid of photo deluxe too quickly. I have used it to color and add text to some pc card assembly drawings. I also just got photo elements 2. I opened a few of my files from HOLD in photo deluxe and the quality was not as good. I suggest opening a few of your file first or simply leave them both on your computer.
There may be a chance I have some setting incorrect.

Re: Keep PhotoDeluxe 2 ?
Brad - You probably need to calibrate your monitor with Adobe Gamma.
Chuck - The red eye reduction in PhotoDeluxe is better, IMHO. You can use it in PSE2 as a plug-in. Find "redeye.8BF" in PD and put it into \Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2\Plug-Ins\Effects. It'll show up under >Filters
