Keyboard shortcuts stop working

I am using IDCS2 4.0.4 on a G5 dual 1.8 running 10.4.7 and whenever I use the print dialogue box all of my keyboard shortcuts stop working until relaunch. Any clues on how to resolve this?

Have you visited the Shortcuts Editor to see what's selected? Try selecting some other set and then re-select your set.

Are you leaving ID after you hit Print, and then trying to come back to it after it has spooled?
Or, are you staying in ID the whole time?

I'm just curious because I get this occasionally whenever I leave ID during the spooling process.

Thanks. I will try and replicate it. It only happens occasionally so maybe it is the spooling process. It has only started happening since the last update and I am more curious than frustrated. I will post the conclusions once I figure it out.

I have been having this same issue, I have to quit the program and then open it again to reset the shortcuts, I can open a document and before I can import an image the shortcuts have stopped working. I am having it occur almost every file as of last night and again today. I often switch to other programs while I am printing a large document from ID and I didn't have a problem with ID until recently.

Yeah I have this happening loads.

it seems to occur mainly on bigger files and seemingly when I 'hide' InDesign and come back to it.

And when it happens even the minimize button at the top of the window stops working too.

It's SO frustrating.

I've tried changing the keyboard shortcut set but doesnt seem to help.

I'm on G5 1.8 and latest InDesign and OSX and just upgraded to 2gb of memory.
My main file of despair is 135mb in size. do I maybe need a more powerful mac??

Usually it happens after I've been working on a graphics intensive file (placed PSD files with transparency) with effects applied in InDesign.

The fix seems to be to quit the program, relaunch and reopen the file. This is only a temporary fix as I soon lose access to keyboard shortcuts again. Very annoying.

It happens with Illustrator CS2 as well.

Interesting. I am on the same EXACT setup (except mine isn't a dual processor).
It did happen to me before the updates to OSX & ID, I haven't seen it too much since the updates however.

I had the same problem after upgrading to ID 4.0.4 from ID3 after loading my old shortcuts from ID3.

When I binned those and went back to the default set, it worked fine. Ity just took a little while to redefine them all.
