"Latest Launch Failed" message in XP
A friend is using PS7 and XP, both of which were working fine until this morning. Now, when he opens PS, the following message appears:
"The last launch failed while communicating with one of your installed cameras or scanners. We recommend you re-install or update your device's TWAIN drivers. Do you want to try again?" Answering "Yes" crashes the system, Answering "No" Photoshop opens and functions, but the only device he has (a Nikon ES4000 slide scanner) is missing from the "Import" menu.
I tried un-installing the scanner (via Device Manager) and also the Nikon software, then re-installing it. Problem is still there. Needless to say, there is no clue about how to "re-install or update your device's TWAIN drivers" and I have zero experience with XP. Nikon's own stand-alone "Nikon Scan" works fine.
All suggestions welcome! Thanks.
