Layer mask erase problem.
Let's say I open an image and then I open another image and I drag one image on top of the other image as a layer. Then I go up to the layers menu and hit "Add Layer Mask" > "Reveal All". OK, here is where the problem kicks in. If I want to erase the top layer with the layer mask highlighted......the erasing is only partially done. In other words.....instead of completely erasing what I want erased....you can still see the remains of the image slightly. The erase opacity is set to 100% as is the flow. I am using a soft brush to erase. I have been doing this type of thing for a long time with no problem. The entire portion I wanted to erase did in fact get erased when it was working OK. Now it erases maybe 90% but leaves a sort of dulled opaque image instead of fully erasing. I hope this makes sense. How can I fix this problem?

Layer mask erase problem.
I had the same problem and this worked for me:
If you're erasing in the layer mask, you are probably switching between white and black with the color tool. Press on the color black in the tools panel below. The Color Picker menu pops up and then set the value black to 'real' black (RGB values 0/0/0) or simply pill down the color picker to the bottom left corner.Unregistered Guest
