Layers & Groups
Hi all,
I'm just starting with Illustrator CE after working for some time with version 9. I work often with several layers and i'm having problems with objects "jumping" from one layer to another. Also, whenever i make a group of objects belonging to different layers Illustrator merges all objects in one single layer...it's driving me mad! Is there a solution? or do i have to go back to V9?
thanks
Z

Re: Layers & Groups
Zurzu,
I believe that unless you are clicking on the various full layers that you have created (they have to be manually created, only the first full layer is automatic). I believe you are seeing "sub-layers" and not full layers. Sub-layers are automatic for every object you make, and if you Group something, that becomes a sub-layer with two sub-sub-layers, etc. Check the manual in CS for Layers and perhaps that'll explain layers and full layers more elequantly for you. Once you get the hang of sub-layers you'll see how handy they can be. But, You can still work full layers as you always have and ignore sub-layers also, if your wish. They are "extras" and shouldn't get in your way otherwise.
