Layers? Newbie
I use to use Frontpage for building websites but I have now switched to
Dreamweaver 8. I had one question, please take a look at this website
http://www.gsctrucking.com and tell me what kind of layout it is. Is this
layers? How it has the blue bg and the actual menu in the middle of the page.

Re: Layers? Newbie
Browse to that page. Select Edit > View Source. Copy all. Create a new
page in DW. Paste this code in place of all DW code. Examine how the page
was created and whether it has any layers.
<hint - no layers>
By the way - as new user of DW you would do yourself a big favor by
forgetting about layers until you are much more comfortable with HTML and
CSS (that is in your plans, right?). 8)

Re: Layers? Newbie
Hi Gman587:
Looking at the code it does not appear they are using layers... its a table
based design. You mention the menu in the middle of the page. I thought it
was a menu too, but it does not appear to link/work (I tried it in i.e. 6,
and firefox). A menu could be designed using layers that could work a menu,
or even easier, the picture could be designed using a "Image" map which is
pretty simple to do. In dreamweaver look at the bottom left section of the
properties bar when an image is selected... you'll see the image map
tools,info there. Matt
