    Default Layers Question

    Hi

Layers - Say I have 2 master (top?) layers. Then inside each of those there may be 50 sub layers. I want to take one sub layer out to be a 3rd master layer. What I currently do is highlight it and then drag it to the top of the layers palet in between the 2 masters and bingo, I have my new master.

Is there a short cut to automatically convert it to a master layer. I have looked but if there is my terminology must be wrong as I cant find it.

    Thnks

    Default Re: Layers Question

Maybe it could be done with a script. To convert all sub layers to main layers, save the file as an AI 8 file and reopen it. Useful when you want to export all layers into single files through SVG- or SWF-Export.

    Hi Kurt

Thanks for the reply. But I just wanted to convert individual layers without having to drag them. Thought there might be a short cut for it.

    Cheers

Also there is little reason to turn ALL sub-layers into full layers. And drag n drop sublayer to full layer (newly created or older) is always in play.
